Technical Applications Sales Manager – Functional Food Ingredients (m/f/d)

Your Tasks
Reporting to the North American EVP & Managing Director, the Technical Applications Sales Manager will provide vision, leadership, and strategy to achieve the VAN HEES inc. business growth and share goals in the US and Canada territory. The Technical Applications Sales Manager will work closely with North American sales teams of VAN HEES Inc. Distribution partners and the US technical support team. The position will help develop the market plan and support in the execution of the VAN HEES strategy within the meat industry.
- Develop target accounts and growing overall business selling the VAN HEES branded ingredient product range into existing and new application areas, and therefore contributing to increased profitability by meeting expected sales targets, volume, and margin in their region;
- Will understand customer needs by field presence and translate them into commercial offers;
- Focus on generating new business with new potential customers and on growing and developing existing customers for the sake of building long-term relationships within meat processing, plant based and other food industries;
- Will provide applied Technical Service, Sales, R&D for the purpose of new business generation; which includes test runs, scale up, sample manufacture etc. at various customer sites or business partners facilities.
- Will feed all relevant information regarding markets (clients, competition, products) to build and keep offers aligned with market demand;
- Will work proactively with senior management to build and drive a proper value proposition for the customers in the meat industry. Will actively communicate the value proposition by training and supporting the sales team;
- Will implement with Sr. Management the pricing policy for the territory, based on revenue and margin goals and overall pricing guidelines while considering feedback from the local market;
- Will provide the annual budget commitment for sales aspects of VAN HEES territorial P&L as part of strategic planning;
- Identify key customers to target, in line with their MBO goals;
- Perform other duties as required.
Your Profile
- Master’s degree in Meat Science/Food Science/Food Technology, or other related fields,
- 8+ years of experience in technical sales or R&D consulting role in the food science and/or ingredient industry is preferred but will be considered on an individual basis.
- Ability to do domestic and some international travel (Canada, Germany, and Mexico) 30 -75%.
- Must be a results-driven leader with a strong track record of technical aptitude in ingredient related businesses.
- Strong entrepreneurial skills with business acumen, food science and analytical skills with significant focus on execution.
- Some relationships within meat processing industry with experience in food protection and functional ingredients such as yield enhancers, flavor components, hydrocolloidal systems and meat alternative proteins are preferred.
- Excellent presentation and organization skills * Strong communications skills and interpersonal skills with professionals of all organizational levels.
- Strong solution selling and relationship building skills.
- Ability to work under pressure meeting deadlines.
- Must be influential, a problem solver, and able to focus on delivering results with a proactive attitude.
- Good listener, ability to learn.
